The infant optics DXR 8 Pro has been a famous dude since the day it released – thanks to its active noise reduction feature. While those who loved the infant optics DXR-8’s previous version were ready to invest in this one, other really want to know what is so ‘PRO’ about this monitor.
So, we decided to give it a go and help our all the fellow parents in this regards. Honestly, it is a pretty good baby monitor from infant optics with several goods and bad’s. So, let us get into the details and we’ll leave it up to you to decide if you would invest in it or not.
What We Like?
1- High-Quality Video And Audio With Interchangeable lenses
At 1080P, the video quality the infant optics dxr 8 offers is just amazing. With a wider view angle, that is coming from up to four cameras combined, and clear vision you can be sure to see more than your eyes could. While most parents don’t really care about the audio quality in a baby monitor, we can assure you that it makes a real difference when you’re using this indoors and outdoors.
2- Two-Way Audio Technology
Looking to add some fun twist to your baby monitor? This one by infant optics offers two-way audio between the baby and parent unit that can be a huge help. Not only you can get alerts when your baby is crying, but you’ll also get to talk with them (thanks to its background noise reduction function that works for parent unit too).
3- Remote Monitoring And Smartphone App Alerts
This one offers remote controls that can help you control the camera pan, tilt, digital zoom, etc. when you’re not near the device. If you’re the kind who always sleeps with your phone, then this monitor works like the multiple cameras for you and can come in real handy (no pun intended)- thanks to its wide angle lens. It offers push notifications on your smartphone whenever the baby is awake, crying or sleeping. So, no pressing buttons to keep an eye on him/her.
Reviewing The Main Features of Infant Optics DXR 8 Pro Baby Monitor
Well, it doesn’t have any big surprise here. But, despite being a simple looking baby monitor unit, it offers you what you need. With a 90 degrees zoom lens, you can easily see everything of the baby’s room in front of this camera. If you take the remote control into the equation, then this is something that really helps parents monitor their kids.
The other features like zoom, night visibility and other settings can be adjusted from the remote control as well (with ease). So, if you’re thinking of investing in this baby monitor for its design, then we’d say it’s pretty good.
Quality Audio And Video Monitor
Now, this is something that you’re actually looking in a baby monitor. And we can guarantee you that this one doesn’t disappoint in either category. The video feature, when tested, was pretty good and it provides crisp clear images even when the lighting conditions were so poor (it offers infrared night vision). We tried finding out some noise/disturbance and we found none (which is surprising).
But, if you do plan on using it at night, make sure to play around with the settings a little. We noticed that sometimes the video could get too blackish and unclear. Luckily, that’s not something that happens all the time (it was quite rare actually). The audio was equally impressive and we could easily hear a boo-boo from the crib with zero disturbance.
But, what impressed us the most was its ability to offer 2 way audio across multiple rooms. We were able to talk through this monitor and comfort our child in just a matter of minutes. In fact, you can use both ends for talking simultaneously as well. However, the only bad thing in regards to audio is that it does not let you turn down your voice.
Battery And Other Details
Coming to the battery of this baby monitor, we can say that it disheartened us a bit. We were really hoping for something longer lasting in terms of battery power. But despite being so underwhelming, it does last for more than 10 hours. You can also unplug the device and carry it around (if needed).
Setting it up is quite easy. We were able to set everything up within just a few minutes, following the steps that are provided on the user manual. As far as connectivity is concerned, there’s no doubt that this one does pretty well with all latest devices (including Android and iOS). The app allowed us to monitor what our kids are up to without actually being there. But, some parents have reported some problems with connectivity issues. So, if you’re thinking of buying this baby monitor just for the connectivity purpose, then we would suggest that you think twice before doing so. There are chances that it might disappoint you at some point during the day/night.
What We Didn’t Like?
- Price: As we mentioned in the beginning, it is a pretty good baby monitor. But, you get what you pay for and no doubt this one is on higher side of the price range. However, the video quality justifies its price tag if this is something that matters to you.
- Inadequate Night Visibility: At least from our experience, we noticed that night vision pictures were a little less defined and unclear. While it manages to capture the subject pretty well, you would have to tweak a few settings just to get a crisp picture in low light.
- Battery Life: In terms of battery life, this is where DXR-8 Pro lacks. We assumed it would last long in just a day or two, but in real life scenario we noticed the battery drain out in just a day. While it is not at all bad considering its price range, we would still want to see better battery life on this one.
Conclusion – One of The Best Baby Monitors in 2022
So, what’s the big deal about baby optics DXR-8 Pro? Well if you’re looking to invest in an infant optics monitor that offers great visual quality then this one is the perfect choice. It might be on higher side of the price range, but trust us it is worth every penny.
So, if you’re looking for a new night vision baby monitor with high-quality video and audio then we’ll highly recommend you to invest in this one. Infant Optics DXR-8 Pro is probably the best you’ll find that offers all the great features and justifies its price. It’s definitely ‘PRO’ in many ways. Happy parenting!
