This
page is in remembrance of my brother Matt Corless,
who died in October of 1974. I was ten years old at the
time and now, thirty years later, my memories of him are
fading. If you knew my brother in school, sports,
or scouts, I'd appreciate any stories you might have of
him. Photos too. I want to pass his memory on to
my own children. I decided to create this page after visiting my old high school to ask about the Matt Corless Scholarship that had been created after his death. It was 2004, thirty years after his death, and I had assumed the scholarship continued during all that time. I was informed that not only did they stop awarding it back in the 80's, but they also knew nothing about the large plaque that contained my brother's picture and the names of the scholarship winners. They could only guess that it had been thrown away at some point. I was disappointed, but not surprised. However, it got me to thinking if anyone outside of my family still remembered Matt. What kind of impact did he have on people during his short life? I know he was well-liked and active in just about everything. What kind of kid was he? I'm just not sure because I was six years younger than him, and we didn't do a whole lot together. He was gone before I had a chance to really get to know my big brother. If you have a story or photo to share, email me here. - Phil Corless |
