Where's The Fire?

I still enjoy seeing the little Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars spread all over the house.
It means they're being played with and loved.
And my kids' imaginations are being stoked by a little piece of plastic and metal, like this yellow firetruck I found on the living room window sill.
It does a father's heart good to see evidence of the magical wonderment of childhood play.
Of course, I take it all back when I step on one in the middle of the night on my way to the bathroom.
Then I curse the devilish things to hell where they belong.

Exactly, a reassuring, yet sometimes painful, mess.
My little boy is still more intrigued my grown-up detritus, so I've found hand lotion and old telephones in his toybox. I've even found a remote control in the water bottle holder of my bike, which was being kept in a spare room.
Legos are bad to step on, too. And most recently I stepped on a stuffed rooster that crows...at 2:00am. Not good.
Especially painful when nailing you right in the soft spot of your foot.
Could be a new torture method.
Toy cars, LEGO pieces, and LiteBrite pieces are the worst things to step on. But I love that my kids play with them all.
My brother and I used to play with matchbox cars for HOURS and HOURS when we were kids. Now, we play with our kids for HOURS and HOURS. It's a favorite past time, what can I say.
In related news though, my sister would buy one for my nephew every time they went to the store each weekend. They had quite the collection going. My sister understood the importance of a Matchbox car because of growing up in a house with me and my brother. Her husband however DID NOT understand. One day, he decided my nephew had outgrown them and threw them all out!!! He's been scolded and will NEVER...EVER live it down.
try Barbie shoes
I hate clear Legos more than anything else.
