Clone Wars Giveaway

In my younger days, I would've been all over this.
Star Wars was my main obsession during several years of my childhood and there wasn't much about that film that got past me.
Life was simple back then. I had the time to be a super fan.
Things change, and I now have roughly 985 things to think about each day, none of which have anything to do with that galaxy far, far away.
Still, I have tried to keep up with the various incarnations of Star Wars that have popped up over the years. That's why it surprised me when a representative from LucasFilm contacted me about a review copy of a DVD called Clone Commandos.
"The who-what?" was my first thought.
It turns out there's an animated TV series called The Clone Wars on the Cartoon Network, and it just started its second season. I had no idea. That's what happens when you don't have cable.
The Clone Commandos DVD consists of four episodes from the first season of The Clone Wars. A nice little sampler for people like me who had never seen the show before.
Did I mention my son loves Star Wars as much as I did 30 years ago?
We sat down to watch this DVD and had no trouble agreeing that the show is quite amazing. Everything about it is first-rate, from the imaginative 3D animation to the compelling storylines and characters.
The story takes place after the events of the movie Attack of the Clones, when Jedi Knights and clone troopers battle against the evil separatist armies. The Star Wars galaxy is a big one, and this show takes advantage of it, moving the action to strange new planets and introducing some fun new characters.
This cartoon series has the same feel of endless possibilities as I remember the very first movie had for me back in 1977.
My poor son was disappointed that we could only watch four episodes. Now you know what he's getting for Christmas. Yes, the first season DVD set of The Clone Wars was released on November 3rd. We highly recommend it for kids (and adults) over the age of 6 or 7.
I have an extra copy of the Clone Commandos DVD to give away to one of my readers. It's a great introduction to the series, but it can also stand alone as a 90-minute bit of Star Wars fun.
To win the DVD, leave a comment about your favorite scene from any of the six Star Wars movies. I'll pick a winner this weekend.

I'm with you - and have turned my Son onto Star Wars. And there are so many good scenes from all the movies. My favorite would probably be the fight between Darth and Obi Wan (sticking with the classics!)
I've been watching this while I'm on my exercise bike in the morning before the kids get up.
well - I've done that once. but I did watch the clone wars TV series. It's pretty cool actually.
Hey, how do you get all the promo deals?
Sign me up. I've never seen it either.
I love the scene where Luke and Han are breaking in to the detention level to rescue Princess Leia. "We're all fine...here..now. Thank you. How are you?" has become an oft quoted line in our family whenever someone bungles something badly but doesn't want any flak about it.
My boys love the Clone Wars. And it is very well made and even interesting for parents. They would love to see a preview of Commandos.
My favorite Star Wars scenes are those between Leia and Han. They were so great together.
Obviously, when Lord Vader reveals to Luke that he is his father.
I have never watched the original Star Wars, but my 10 year old LOVES The Clone Wars....we DVR them because Cartoon Network is blocked
My favorite scene can best be described through my poem "X Wing Star Fighter:"
X Wing Star Fighter
Flashes in space like a lighter.
X Wings are fast machines.
Luke Skywalker thinks they're keen.
Darth Vader built the Death Star
To rule the galaxy from afar.
Luke flew the X Wing really fast.
The Death Star didn't last.
Luke dropped his bomb in the hole.
It blew up and took its toll.
X Wing Fighter ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM
Death Star, Death Star -
BOOM BOOM BOOM
(I've discovered you can teach a little boy about poetry but only when it's Jedi Poetry. Don't even ask about the Haiku Jedi Poetry.)
I have to go with Luke and Obi-Wan meeting Han for the first time in the Cantina, something about that music......and all those interesting characters at the bar.
I agree. I stick with the classics instead- The prequels may have been great, but they make the whole thing more confusing.
My favorite is the "Luke, I am your Father" scene.
My son would love to win this! He's an absolute Clone Wars nut.

I like the Start Wars movie that involves Anakin's turning to the dark side- there's always a great realization after a very bad mistake.
Hmm...I still think of driving in your dad's car on the way to a Troop 143 hike and listening to the 8-track of Star Wars.
