Lightning Strikes Twice

A huge lightning storm woke me up from a rare early bedtime last night. I took this shot out our back window. The storm lasted for hours and shook the house like nothing we've experienced before.
Apparently that storm was just a warm-up for what's heading our way right now. A tornado!
Yes, a tornado in North Idaho.
This might be my last blog post... We're heading to the basement.

Remember to follow the yellow brick road and watch out for flying monkeys.
Oh, and stay safe.
As quickly as the local TV and radio stations hyperventilated all over the airwaves about the tornado warning, the whole thing was downgraded to just a regular old thunderstorm. And even that kind of fizzled out. You could almost hear the disappointment in the newscasters' voices.
Wasn't that an awesome storm? I loved it! We didn't know anything about the tornado watch/warning, so we just lay in bed enjoying the sound of window panes vibrating to the rumbling thunder.
Where I grew up, we had lots of thunderstorms, and I miss them. (We had lots of tornado warnings, too, but I don't miss those so much.)
oh??
Anyway, better safe than tornado I think.
I was born and raised in R.I. the home of hurricanes... and lived a short time in California where there are earthquakes. So when we moved to Idaho, I was glad to get away from major storms. The first Columbus Day we were here, there was a tornado that ripped thru Vay where we lived near Dufort Road. Then a few years later, I was fixing breakfast and noticed the things on the wall were swinging. I woke my husband & told him, something was shaking the trailer we lived in, REALLY BAD!! He looked out the window where I could see our truck dancing...and said..oh, it is just an earthquake. All my time in Ca. never had one like that. So ran thru the house, yelling to the kids, GET OUT OF BED & OUTSIDE, EARTHQUAKE.
And I thought I had moved to a place where things stayed the same. Oh, yea, two years later we had 4 feet of snow on the flat..WELCOME TO IDAHO... lol..
Personally I love thunder and lighting, so do my kids and grandkids. Love sitting by the window and watching. Use to tell my kids that was God moving his furniture. lol
love the picture..
we DID have a tornado at work yesterday. it was quite surreal.
i'm posting pictures later in the week. (because you know I was out there taking pictures, come on I'm a blogger!)
