Hot Chick
This morning my son became a proud papa. And a mama too.
The tiny quail eggs he's been so carefully turning and maintaining the past three weeks have started hatching.
The first little chick pecked his way out of his egg earlier today and is now basking in the glow of an electric lightbulb.
The little guy is kind of cute. And very noisy.
Both newborn and new daddy are doing well.

I quail at the thought of a pet bird. You're son might find parenting is not all that it's cracked up to be.
(You know, quail OWN Arizona.)
"parenting is not all that it's cracked up to be."
Wait. Was that pun intentional?
That's egg-zactly what I was thinking.
I don't think raising this bird will be cheep either. We'll probably just wing it.
I was going to leave a heartwarming comment, but with all this excitement my thoughts are a bit 'scrambled'.
Congrats to the new parent.
oh, pun city.
congratulations! now are you keeping it?
and that makes you a young grandpa!
thanks for the nice comments..I'm healing well right here.
oh so cute..... but :( where is the mummy quail to teach it things and give it a wing to snuggle under....
Poor little orphan..
x
Congratulations!
Are you keeping them?
Are we keeping it? I don't know. My son and wife are doing the research. The bird may end up on grandma's farm, which is probably the best place for it.
