Father's Day Book Giveaway!

For my third big Father's Day giveaway, I'm offering up a huge set of brand new books, courtesy of the Hachette Book Group USA.

This time, they're offering a selection of eight new and best-selling titles, sure to please the reading dads out there:

1. The Nine Lessons By Kevin Milne
2. Do-Over! By Robin Hemley
3. The Man's Book By Thomas Fink
4. BoneMan's Daughters By Ted Dekker
5. An Honorable German By Charles McCain
6. The Richest Man in Town By W. Randall Jones
7. Lincoln on Leadership By Donald Phillips
8. Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell

Now THAT is a variety pack!

Five of my readers will win this book package, and all you have to do to be eligible is leave a comment on this post telling me what you've read lately.

Oh, and you have to live in the USA or Canada (sorry, Dan).

I'll pick the five winners on Monday!

Hi. What a wonderful thing to do. I've been reading anything and everything by T. C. Boyle. Somehow I never discovered him until the last few months. I'm waiting to get The Women, his newest, when my name works its way up the hold list at the Public Library. I've generally been a book buyer, but now that retired using the public library more, and giving them lots of my old books that I won't reread.

Lovely concept. Recently read:
- Toddler: Real life stories of those fickle, irrational urgent tiny people we love, ed. Jennifer Margulis.
- the new Robert Parker novel.
- Best American Essays 2008 - I'm still catching up!
- Consider the Lobster & Other Essays - David Foster Wallace, RIP.

As you can see, I'm having trouble reading full-lengths right now. Blame it on the impending summer, I guess. But definitely enter my name in the contest!

Oh how I miss reading on my commutes.

Right now I'm reading (in fits and starts) "A Fortunate Age" by Joanna Smith Rakoff. Recently re-read "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon. And because I wanted my 10-year-old to read it, I just re-read "Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams for the first time in at least 15 years.

Good question! I'm going to the library tomorrow, so I'll have to write down some of your readers' recommendations.

Recently, I've read Stranger in a Strange Land (Heinlein) and A Voice in the Wind (Francine Rivers.)

Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris with a foreword by none other than CHUCK NORRIS.

Its a couple of homeschool teens who are attempting to change the face of teenagedome. Its targeted toward teens, but I think parents should all read this and find a way to support it.

I just finished reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. Amazing story about a young man entering manhood without having the physical presence of his father. I won't say anymore, but I do recommend the book.
Thanks for the chance to enter, Phil.
