Scenes From A Blizzard

It was the biggest snowstorm to hit my town since 1895.

37 inches of snow fell to the ground over a 52 hour period, a new record.

When it was over, we emerged from the house with shovels in hand, not quite sure of where to begin. Just clearing the driveway took about four hours, and even then we couldn't go anywhere on the unplowed roads.

So we played in it a bit, and gawked at the thick white blanket that had so suddenly fallen down upon us. And, of course, I took lots of pictures...

Dang that is a lot of snow. Is your son still the snow-plowing machine of earlier years?

Oh my God..how in the world are you guys going to clear them all? Okay..now I better be careful of my wishes to have snow..at least rain and sunshine never makes me carry heavy loads!

And before I forget..Merry Christmas to all your wonderful loved ones and you!

I used to live in Flagstaff AZ, where each winter I lived there, it dumped 2 feet in 2 days, but this is insane!!

I'm glad I live in an apartment where they take care of shoveling for me!!

am jealous. we never get that much snow.

i say if it's going to snow, keep me inside to snuggle and let the kids get lost in it outside.

but then again? that's a lot of snow.

Brett - my son is more of a scraper and pusher, not so much a lifter and thrower. Believe me, this snowfall needed to be lifted and thrown! Once I got the bulk of it off the driveway, he cleaned up after me.

Before this storm, we were singing, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow," but now we're just saying, "Let it stop, let it stop, let it stop."

Another foot of snow is expected tomorrow. :(

Love it! Love it! Love it!

I used to live in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. I've always regretted leaving. It was the most beautiful place I've ever been. I think Heaven must look a lot like it.

Ahhh. When I was a kid, I could shovel without tiring. Because I was the "man of the house" since I was 9, I did all the heavy lifting and throwing. But I have to say, even the Blizzard of '79 pales in comparison to your pile of white stuff.

Hey, I have an idea: ship your snow out here where we need fresh, clean drinking water.

It's crazy, isn't it? We only got 23 inches on that first day, but it's snowing AGAIN TODAY! MAN!

Yeah...it'll be a white Christmas all right....

Beautiful. Reminds me of nearly every winter when I was a kid. Whatever happened to this kind of snow anyway?
