Gingerbread Riches

My wife and kids spent three days designing and building this elaborate 2-story gingerbread house. My job was to make frequent trips to the store for requested supplies (they were kind of making it up as they went along).
It wasn't until the house was done that I realized how spectacular it was... spectacularly expensive, that is. There's about $50 worth of candy on that thing!
In other news, I've tallied the votes in the Christmas LOLcats competition between the kids and me.
Picture #1, "Claus, Meet Claws," is the big winner, with 12 votes to #2's 8 votes.
Not exactly a landslide, but it looks like I owe a couple of kids a trip to McDonald's.
I'll get 'em next time!

That's quite a gingerbread house. Hope your loan didn't come from Countrywide.
I feel your pain. I've been struggling with guilt over NOT making gingerbread houses, but I keep remembering the couple of years we did it, how much money went into it and then watching that "money" slide down into the kitchen trash can and just couldn't bring myself to go there again...yet
That house looks delicious.
We are actually doing a sleigh this year instead of a house. It's a kit that comes with everything including a santa ornament and lots of candy. Anything else the boys want to put on it will have to come from the pantry.
That's beautiful! Way better than our store-bought one that we put together. Ugh.
How are you doing with this snow? We didn't have to go to work today, thank goodness. They haven't plowed our street yet so I don't know how we're going to even make it tomorrow.
I like the little snowman but it looks like he is worried about something. Maybe the temperature in your house is a little high for him.
That's an expensive habit you have, but a sweet one.
That is awesome, you got a few good artists there with a sweet imagination. Enjoy!
That is one expensive project. Just to think of all the great tunes you could have downloaded...but it sure does look tasty.
Wow that house is sporting some serious bling!! Maybe next year you could pick up one of those ten dollar kits from a store:} Also, I have a question, My family and I will be camping in Salmon Id this summer, and just kinda of meandering around up there, do you have any suggestions for fun things within say, a two hour drive? thanks
