Bee Charmer
How do you cure a kid of a mild fear of bees?
Give him a camera, and tell him to go take pictures of them in the backyard.
My son took this with a point-and-shoot camera:

Yes, he had to get really close.
No, he's not afraid of bees anymore.

Hmmm. Think I can use that technique to cure my kids' fear of heights?
What a great picture. Josh is very interested in photography these days. I am hoping to have him enter some pictures in next year's fair. This picture by your son would be a great entry, too.
nice.
Phil: I always let them land on me and do whatever, I never get stung. Sorry I haven't been around, I put myself totally in the cooler for two months and am sticking to my guns. I hope you are keeping the crew intact. I do miss all the regulars, such nice people. I once had a fear of heights and jumped out of an airplane, I don't have that fear anymore. Just tell your son that all creatures belong on this Earth and who are we to step on them or kill them. If I find a spider or a bee in my house, I do my upmost to make sure they make it outside to continue on with their lives. Good luck on the schooling, I'm with you all the way. The Stickman
I'd like to think that would work for spiders too. Try it and report back ;)
Great photo of that there bee on your coriopsis... your lad must have an eye for photography..

Makes sense to me. Good plan.
Mighty smart way to reduce the fear. Although I just poked a stick in a hole in our back yard rock wall only to set off an angry bee that chased me down and stung me ... ouch. I dare you to even come and read about my son's sting on his hind end ;) ... (9/16/08)
