RACISM!!
I just learned that Google's new browser - Chrome - doesn't yet easily work with Google bookmarks. Now isn't that ironic? I know it will, Chrome is still in beta, but still... I now will be in the middle of using THREE browers. Geesh!
And P.S. - although not a "true" stay at home dad, my hubby is responsible for homeschooling our 3 boys (although he still works from home) and we are here in Kootenai County (that is in "answer" to your statement that you have never "officially" met a "stay at home dad" - I guess DH doesn't "really" qualify - but he's pretty close :)
I learned how a hovercraft works (yesterday with Josh during his science lesson).
I learned how to replace the fill valve, flapper and overflow on a toilet tank thanks to my wife buying a full replacement kit that wasn't compatible with the only broken part, the fill valve.
I learned that I am scared of flying-terrified actually, but was able to overcome this fear to go on vacation out of state last week. Hoping to continue working on it, so that I will be able to fly anytime and not worry about bumps, turbulence or strange noises...

I learned that despite what personal biases I may have, if your child smiles and dances to a singing chicken Elmo, then there must be something redeaming about it.
I learned even the toughest kid will apologize when given a graceful way to do it.
I just learned about a great new hobby called GeoCashing where hundreds of treasures are hiding all over the United States just waiting for anyone anywhere to find. They are hiding even in your very own neighborhood. All you need is a hand held GPS and your good to go. Kids just love this so the whole family can have fun. Thanks for having this great giveaway~!
I learned that I am as judgmental today as I was in high school. The difference since then is that sometimes, I'm okay with my judgement of others. So maybe the little girl in my daughter's class is nice, smart, funny and cute. But I don't like her tattooed, baggy pants dad with his multiple piercings and his two-pronged braided goatee. I just don't really want to mingle with him so I really am hoping that my daughter doesn't make that girl her new best friend for life. Call me awful, call me a b(*#h, call me normal -- I don't care. I just know I don't want to have to pretend it's okay when it's not. So I keep asking my daughter how the nice girl with the nice looking family is. For all I know, they could be awful people. But at least they looked like I could relate to them.
Some of those books looked like they might have some self help in the titles. Perhaps that would be helpful. :)
I learnt that if you try to cut corners by trying to super glue the new catflap to the back door instead of finding a drill and screws, that when you hold the said glued flap until it drys, then its best to not actually let your sons fingers touch the drying glue LMFAO..... or..... because it takes about 30 minutes to unstick superglued fingers from a catflap :)
I know I aint no doodle, but you can bloody well still put me in the draw, and if I win The Toadies can have the books :) - see, me, all dam heart ;)

We just learned that applying the top coat of Verathane too thickly will create a cracked, antique, but chic(!?), look for your repainted dining room furniture. Whoops. We're going to go with it...

In recent weeks, I've learned how contemptible the Deopartment of Social Services can be toward individuals who are considered below poverty level. You're given a phone number to call. A recording answers stating that no one is available to assist you. You're told to leave a message. You follow the instructions and they never return your call. It is beyond appalling to realize how little your worth to the local government agency that has been set up to "help" people.
I have learned alot this week. I took my fisrt born to have his senior pictures made and did very well with it. I am excited that he is graduating, but I have also learned that the very joy that seeing your children as they are growing up, is also one of the most painful experiences you will ever feel in your heart emotionally, when you realize that you have only a very few months and then they will be moving on to start thier life. There is no greater love then what a true mother feels for thir child.
