Where Do We Go From Here?
Trey Morgan and his wife recently celebrated their 20th anniversary.
His post got me to thinking about our 20th coming up in two years.
Specifically, I've been pondering some kind of celebratory anniversary trip. I mean, that's a special event. How many marriages make it to twenty years these days? My wife and I deserve to sit on a beach or by a pool for making it this far together!
I have two years to save my spare change in the plastic five-gallon animal cracker jar underneath my desk.
But, where do we go?
Hawaii? Bora Bora? Caribbean cruise? I have a few ideas, but nothing unique and exciting.
I need your help. Where should we go for our 20th anniversary in 2010?
Just remember, it has to be under $5,000, and it has to be child-friendly. Yes, we're taking the kids.

Urm, I dunno.
You could always come to England, we'd certainly put you up for a couple of nights.
A road trip through europe would be cool, hire a camper van (do you call them RV's?) and drive from france to greece or something like that.
My dream holiday has always been to take the trans Siberian express train from moscow to Beijing, but that might be too pricey for a family of four.
Or you could stay home and buy a really big TV with the money, then just pt the national geographic channel on and pretend you're somewhere else.
Where did you go for your honeymoon? My husband & I decided to revisit our honeymoon site every 10 years. And yes, we took the kid last time. She loved it. Now we have a new set of memories to an area that was special to us. The first time was loving and private, the second time we read the latest Harry Potter aloud as a family and checked out the local waterpark. Next time we are due to go our oldest will be 17, and the baby will be 6. Who knows what adventures we will have. I look forward to it.
a disney cruise
Hawaii- so much culture and nature to see. We love Kona, on the big island. The big island has the live volcano, lava lanscape and a lush tropical forest to explore. Of course there is fabulous snorkling and water activites. All kid friendly. On the way there or back, take a day or two on Oahu. Honolulu has wonderful history (can't you just imagine the history lesson about Pearl Harbor?) and a great cultural center on the north shore. I would recommend looking into renting a house verses staying at a hotel.
We will celebrate our 20th in two years too.
Lake Louise. Post Hotel. You will thank me always.
Take the family to Baghdad!
Oh wait, you already did that.
Congrats! We're 10 years behind you and are planning our 10th anniversary in 2010. I've been thinking Costa Rica to see the rain forests. Economical and kid friendly. Cloud forests, active volcano, natural hot springs. I have some hotel links I can send you if you're interested. Though I like Dan's idea too. I'm all about the road trip!
My wife banned children from our 10th next year. How about an Alaskan cruise? I'm partial to staying at one of the Sandals resorts, myself.
So, you want adventure? excitement?
Interested in travel?
Have you considered the French Foreign Legion?
(or Manila? Manila would be a great trip!!!)
You can come to my place. Get the whole hip, eclectic neighborhood feel for a mere $4999, no tax. I will even throw in breakfast. You like corn flakes?
We're doing a family of four with a "mini-suite" on a cruise for 7 days for under $4000 (includes our airfare). It's out of LA on Norwegian with a stop in Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta where PapaJD & I got married. The ship is supposed to be very child friendly. We are going in October and I will let you know how it is.
As you know, I'm one year ahead of you. If I end up doing something spectacular I'll make sure to let you know. Then you can pretend it was all your idea.
So Dan, about those couple of nights...
Hmmmm... So far I'm thinking a cruise might be our best bet.
Either that, or a few weeks at Dan's place. All the Diet Coke we can drink... How can you beat that?
The way I see it, I'd have been happy going to a little town 120 miles down the road as long as I got to hang out with my wife.
Where every you choose you'll have a great time.
Blessings
Washington DC?
you could combine american history with your anniversary
