Divers and Skeeters
It's a sure sign of summer.
The teenagers are jumping off the cliffs at the lake, and the mosquitoes are buzzing me in the backyard.
I can think of worse places to get a mosquito bite, but having three bites on the bottom of my left foot and two bites on the bottom of my right is about as aggravating (and itchy) as it can get.
My daughter keeps telling me "Don't scratch it!" but I (sounding like a 7-year-old) just reply, "But I can't help it!!"
As for the teenage cliff divers, Jeff's recent post reminded me of this photo I took back in June of 2005. This could be any summer day on Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Ah, our old friends the mosquitoes. I'm one of the lucky ones who don't get itchy from bites. I still get bit like everyone but they just don't do anything.
Great picture! That looks at least as high as the place my kids go. You sure wouldn't catch me doing that!
I can remember jumping off cliffs just like that when I was a teenager. Now that I'm a "old" father of four, I'm not so into jumping off cliffs.
I think I'm getting old.
:)
What a perfect lake photo! It pretty much sums up what's great about summer in CDA. :)
Today it's hot, but I'll take an Inland Northwest summer over anything south of Oregon.
Cursed Skeeters! Hate those little buggers. Great picture, indeed.
PLEASE!!!!! do not tell my boys where the cliffs in CdA are...oh and my cabana boy is now a host at the sub shop on main street...all the under 19 year olds got transferred out cause of an Idaho law that says they can't serve liquor
Aaah, the old mosquito bites on the bottoms of both feet trick. What were you doing ... sleeping outside on a lounge chair relaxing?? Try Bandaid Brand clear jell anti-itch ointment in a clear tube ... it takes away the itch, sting, and really does work. Sorry to read that you needed a bucket on the fourth ... and not one filled with water to put out sparklers ;) ... hope you are feeling better by now. My daughter Ann enjoys the 'cliff jumping' which I'd rather not know about.
