Too Much Information
The family gathered last night to watch the 1964 Disney movie The Three Lives of Thomasina...
Me (pausing DVD): "Hey, look, it's the girl from Mary Poppins!"
Movie resumes.
Me (pausing DVD): "Cool. Her father is Patrick MacGoohan from The Prisoner."
Movie resumes.
Me (pausing DVD): "Kids, see that little boy? He played the girl's brother in Mary Poppins."
Movie resumes.
Me (pausing DVD): "Whoa. You know who that is? The vet's assistant? That's the actor who played Paul's grandfather in A Hard Day's Night! He looks so different."
Movie resumes.
Me (pausing DVD): "What? I don't believe it. Honey, do you recognize her? C'mon, we just watched the last season of her TV show. Hello? Monarch of the Glen? That's Molly McDonald, only 40 years younger."
Movie resumes.
Me (pausing DVD): "Did you know that the girl playing Mary is the daughter of..."
Everyone Else: "Somebody take the remote away from Daddy!!!"

LOL!! And remind me never to watch a movie when you are in the room ;-)
You and the Pup. She can tell you the bio of every character, the production budget and all the variances, the gross, the net and of course, each and every award garnered. AS well as who was running.
Hey, someone else who watches Monarch with his wife! I am not alone!
Your kids must think your a "movie killjoy" ... eat more popcorn and give the remote to your wife ,,, (LOL)
wow...that's like watching an old movie with my husband. I wonder if he's seen that, especially since Patrick Magoogaly (heh) is in it. Why is "you are number 6!" going through my head?
And that was only in the first 5 minutes?
Funny! My family has made a science out of spotting people in movies, so I am totally familiar with your sense of satisfaction in pointing out the actors and actresses and calling attention to their other works. It's part of the fun of watching a movie, in my opinion!
I can go you one better. As soon as we start a movie we boot up a computer (usually mine, but hubby will occasionally bot up his laptop) and we zip to the IMDb (Internet Movie Data base) and pull up the movie in question. Some times it is a race between me and hubby as to who gets it up on the screen first.
I can't remember the last movie we actually watched without pausing to look up an actor, trivia or goofs for the movie and a ton of other info there are are finger tips (oh yes I can, it was The Simpson's Movie and we were at the theatre without a computer or a pause button :D ).
I do that all the time and it drives my wife up the wall.
I'm surprised they didn't make you sit in another room
OMG, this happens _all_ the time at our house--tv shows, movies, doesn't matter. DH always tells us who that so-and-so is and what shows and/or movies he/she was in. I have to admire his memory, but it can be a bit annoying if you're actually trying to follow the action . . .
