Brothers
My son and I were talking about our cat, Basil.
SON: "Did Basil have a lot of other brothers?"
ME: "Yes, I think he came from a litter of eight."
SON: "Oh. Do you think they miss Basil?"
ME: "I'm sure they don't even remember him. They haven't written or called the past few years."
SON: "Kind of like Mommy's brothers."
ME: "Yup."

That's very funny and kinda sad at the same time
That's such a shame for your kids -- not getting to know their uncles and cousins. We've experienced some of that, too.
My mother doesn't talk with her siblings...I don't understand how something like that happens...
The conversation was sad but the fact that you had it says so much. You were there to listen to his observation(interpretation) of a situation. You've got a good thing going here Phil. Life is about those isolated precious moments. AWESOME
From the mouths of babes you'll hear the observations they make. You got one observant boy there.
I just spit coffee all over the laptop...
