Homeschooler Wins Heisman

Congratulations, Tim Tebow, for winning the Heisman Trophy as the best college football player in 2007.
Tebow was homeschooled by his parents. He was able to play high school football because of a 1996 Florida law that allows homeschoolers to participate in extra-curricular activities at public and private schools.
Every state should have such a law.

We have been following Tim Tebow this past football season b/c along with being Auburn fans, we are SEC fans. We are truly impressed with this young man and excited he won.
We live on the border of AL and GA and watch different homeschooling goings on in each state. AL has a bill that keeps trying to pass that is nicknamed the "Tim Tebow Bill" to allow that specific type of activity. When Tim Tebow was deciding on college, Alabama was high on the list of possibilities. If he had decided on Alabama, that bill probably would have passed by now.
(Also, the state of GA will provide the K-12 cirriculum to homeschooling families for free. We might move the 5 minutes down the street to get in on that action.)
I'm all for those that want to homeschool and even more for the law that provides opportunity for those homeschooled children.
I do find it kind of odd how he and his mom moved into an apartment, picking what team to play on at the high school level, just to further his football career.
He's a in a good offensive system for his skills, I'll be interested if he'll be playing on Sunday soon or not.
Whatever, LSU beat the Gators this year!
