Best Kids CDs of 2007

I've been selected to be a judge for the 2007 Fids and Kamily Awards, which recognizes the year's best kids and family music. The winners will be announced this Saturday, Nov. 17, on the Spare The Rock, Spoil The Child radio show.

How will the final list compare with mine? Here are the CDs that my kids and I voted for:

1. Gustafer Yellowgold - Have You Never Been Mellow (my review)
2. Roger Day - Dream Big (my review)
3. The Hipwaders - Educated Kid (my review)
4. Eric Herman - Snail's Pace (my review)
5. Various Artists - For The Kids Three (my review)
6. The BummKinn Band - Starry Skies and Lullabies (my review)
7. Hullabaloo - Hey Everybody! (my review)
8. D. Jay - Buggy Baloo

Hey Phil,

Wow! We only share one top 10 record of 2007. Amazing...I guess that means there was plenty of awesome kids music released this year.
I need to check out some of the music on your list.

Thanks so much for this list! We are always looking for good kid's music. Have you heard Justin Roberts? He's one of our favorites, along with They Might Be Giants. However, my 3 year old's favorite artist is Shakira! I'm more into the kid's music than she is.

Justin Roberts actually got the top spot in last year's poll -- see here for the results. We love him at our house too.

And TMBG's new kids' record comes out in February (and is terrific); I expect it'll be a popular vote-getter a year from now...

Shakira...not so much for us. :)

That's a great list! Thanks.
Have you heard KINDERJAZZ? You can have a listen at www.cdbaby.com/kinderjazz

We'd love to know what you think. It's music that's not just for kids. Adults love it too.
