In A Big Country
We met a family that moved from New Jersey to Idaho.
They sold their house back east a year ago and only just arrived in the Pacific Northwest.
What took so long?
They spent the past twelve months traveling all over the United States in their camper, visiting historic sites, national parks, and museums. Along the way, their three children received one heck of an education!
It's very tempting... Would you take a year to explore this great country with your kids?

I think that is wonderful. I would LOVE to do that with my kids. A year like that would give them way more experience and education opportunities than any year in school
I would love to do that. I am excited just about the 4 day road trip we have coming up. I can't imagine doing the entire country.
Yes, yes, yes! I figure, if we are homeschooling anyway, a mobile home/ schoolhouse is a great way to add to the education.
If only my kids were younger, if I had a camper van and the money I'm so outta here!
Our neighbors are planning to travel all over Australia next year, they work heaps and safe lots and are going to rent their home out for a year and home school on the way, they girls are only 4 and 6 so it's easy.
My parents did it over a summer, and that's a summer I'd like to do with my own kids. It was easier for them, though--my dad was a teacher, and had the summer off. I can't imagine doingg it for a whole year, though.
I like to explore the country but in small doses. After a few weeks away I am usually ready to get back home. If my home was a RV it might be different. I certainly like the idea.
I think it would be amazing! Now I wish we could afford to do it!! What a great time that would be!!!! Now of course, hubby is a mechanic...so we could just pick up work on the way... ;)
That's part of why we are considering home schooling. We figure if we're talking about the Grand Canyon, why not be at the Grand Canyon.
ABSOLUTELY, but she might get a bit cranky, she's a senior this year. :)
Sounds good if a bit claustrophobic.
No way, I remember that Vacation movie.
heh.
Oh my gosh - that is our dream!
a) motorhoming our way across America, as a family
and
b) moving to Sandpoint!
We live in Seattle, and vacationed in North Idaho in May.
I'm enjoying your blog and beautiful photos!
