Out Of The Closet

I didn't get too far on my closet project. The top shelves are up, and I started on the vertical supports, but then it all came to a sudden halt.
You see, my hard work inspired my wife to tackle a few projects of her own. Three, to be exact. All at the same time. First, she decided to install handles on all of our kitchen cabinets and drawers. Then, she figured she'd paint the kitchen walls while she was making everything else look nice. And, finally, she bought this grouping of picture frames and candle shelves to hang on the family room wall.
All of which means that after she was done I had to stop what I was doing and come fix everything. The handles she bought included screws that were too short. Plus, she drilled the holes off center. Over on the family room wall, the picture frames and shelves were noticeably crooked.
And the new paint in the kitchen? Absolutely beautiful. She did a great job of taping and painting. The problem came after she stood back to look at it, then declared that she hated the dark green color and wants something lighter. So I'm off to the store for primer to paint over it.
Honey, why don't you just bring home the paycheck and leave the house to me.

I was giggling so loud at this that I had to stop and read it to Paul so he would know what I was laughing at.
You are too funny! My hubby is NONE to thrilled with my latest endeavor...we are finishing our upstairs (1000 sq. feet) and I am SO TIRED OF WAITING. So we are officially moving ourselves into the living room while it is finished. It is time for the oldest two children to NOT share a room (they are boy/girl). So there you go...he is NOT THRILLED! :) Go WIFE, GO WIFE! :)
Yikes! That last line poked at my heart a bit. Just a month ago my husband and I swapped- I am now at home and my husband is the one bringing home the paycheck. When he was at home, I still did stuff. But I can see your point. I could never be lead on any of the heavy stuff. But I could (and did) go get my own primer when we did the living room. I installed all the curtain rods on the windows. And even though he is bringing home the paycheck, he is still in charge of the big house projects. He is almost done with the front porch project.
Our compromise at the Playground is that wife.imp decides on projects and the we (ahem- me) do them...
That is classic...been there, done that.
I always say, "Dear, you bring home the bacon, I'll fry it up in the pan."
That's how I feel when my husband starts hanging things, building, messing with the plumbing, etc. He's just not quite as mechanically-minded as I am. (Don't tell him I said that.) Though things have improved since I bought him a laser-level.
Over the years, for the most part we hire people for the big projects. It just makes things easier emotionally.
Hey, she wants to feel useful too! LOL..she's so lucky to have somebody like you!
