Manzanar
Wife and kids at the Manzanar National Historic Site near Lone Pine, California, circa 2001.
I've never heard about this piece of history, I have read the whole part and have found it very interesting. How nice it must've been to visit the memorial. Now I will understand some songs and movies better, you know how you sometimes watch a movie and think, what just happened here or what is this based upon. Amazing to think it happened, you wonder why so many goverments all over the world did things wrong in the early days, I mean look at SA even?
I can think of two recent movies off the top of my head that touch on this topic... "Snow Falling On Cedars" with Ethan Hawke, and "Come See The Paradise" with Dennis Quaid. Both worth renting.
I didn't know there was a memorial to the camps. It is unbelievable that there is actually a very popular right wing blogger of Asian descent who openly and loudly says the camps were great, the right thing to do. You have to wonder, after reading about them, whether she actually believes this or whether it's all posing for pr... And I'm not sure which would be more despicable. Anyway, nice shot!
