Calling All Kids

Disney, Sprint, and Mattel want your kids to join the cell phone generation. I'm sorry, but my children do not need a cell phone. Maybe when they're sixteen, but certainly not at six! I have little trouble staying in touch with them since they're usually within shouting distance (although they're really good at ignoring my call even when we're in the same room).

For real. There are kids in my daughter's elementary school with cell phones. That is nuts, in my opinion!

I'm so paranoid that I'll want to be able to get ahold of my kids at all times and for them to be able to get a hold of me, When I have kids I'll have to decide what age is appropriate for them to have cell phones (for family use only until they are old enough to be resposible with using minutes.)

I think he's realized that, and in fact some of his friends don't have them either. It is unbelievable the stuff that some parents get their kids, and it really makes it hard for those of us who are trying to resist competitive consumerism. I feel sometimes like shaking these parents and asking whether they are thinking...
