Quality Of Life

In my fourth column for the San Diego Reader I talk about the high quality of life we have here in North Idaho. I thought the people of San Diego would like to know what they're missing out on. Plus, I don't get nearly enough hate mail.

Hmmm...It's really interesting to read this post because, I confess, I once spent a summer in Boise and it was enough to convince me that I should never again live in a land-locked state. (You really shouldn't take a Jersey girl away from the shore--even if they don't call it the shore but the beach.)

Of course, I ended up not settling in California, either, and am now living in a county that my family has inhabited for five generations, so perhaps the real story here is the importance of place, even in a culture as fragmented as ours is.

Nice article. My wife, baby, and I live in Los Angeles. We were actually looking at moving to Boise, but looking for employment out of state isn't as easy as it seems.

I agree with Jason. The biggest hurdle for me to overcome is employment. My job skills are rather specialized, which has made it hard for me to move out of L.A. Someday, though. Soon.

Better yet.....don't publish anything about North Idaho in the San Diego paper. Soon it won't be quiet and relaxing here.
