Five Days Down
Hmmmm... Five days down at school, two of them ending in tears... A teacher who allows kids to be teased in the classroom... Two weeks of reviewing simple addition and subtraction from last year... Parents pressured to sell candy bars as a fundraiser... A stolen lunchbox... A bored and unhappy second grader...
Home schooling's looking better and better.
Home schooling's looking better and better.

If you have time, homeschooling would be the best education your children can get. You get to personally handle all aspects of their growing up years, after all.
I was homeschooled K4-12th, though , so I might have a biased slant here.
Are there other teachers that teach the same grade in your school?
Ah yes. Having gone through all of this with my teenager, we've opted to homeschool subsequent children ... and now, our four-year-old (who officially started homeschooling last year) is reading on a level between 1st and 2nd grade ... knows the Dolce Spelling List for Pre-K, K, 1st, and half of the 2nd grade ... Can do simple addition and subtraction for single-digit numbers ... socializes well with babies up to the elderly ...
Yeah, we've seen no drawbacks yet except for the occasional snippy remark from those who think homeschooling is just evil.
Have a talk with that teacher now, before things get out of control. No excuse at all for allowing that.
I agree that you shouldn't let this slide any longer. Talk to the teacher with perhaps the principal present so nobody misunderstands or misquotes you later on.
