"Sleep Deprived Parenting" ... Is there any other kind?
And I totally agree with the headline of that article:
Without caffeine, parenting itself would be impossible
I've blogged about falling asleep while reading to my kids, and how I actually keep reading a bit while I'm dozing, but then stop, and the kids have to wake me up. I'm glad to know that this is a perfectly normal side-effect of parenting!
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one either. I typically nod off while nursing the baby. Of course my three year old is waiting for this PERFECT OPPORTUNITY to get into trouble. There are times I am startled awake by something crashing.
Caffine keeps my going. I drink one to two cups of coffee in the morning and then about a six pack of diet pepsi throughout the day.
Thanks for the link. That is me lately. Our one year old has had an ear infection for two weeks, so he is up all night long. Amoxicillin did not work, so now he's on Augmentin. The poor guy, but I have to say not sleeping has just killed me. I truly believe the root of most instances of bad parenting is sleep deprivation. Yep, that is me in the "I'm a crabby mommy" T-shirt.
