Ben Stein Discovers Idaho Fatherhood

Actor, writer, game-show host Ben Stein is a frequent visitor to my neck of the woods here in North Idaho. In this 1999 American Enterprise article, Stein talks about some valuable lessons he learned about fathers and sons while vacationing in Sandpoint with his son Tommy. As he writes, "It’s great to be a dad anywhere, but it’s better in a small town."

I love the article and sent it to my husband who will, I'm sure, love it too. I feel like my mothering will improve a notch with Ben Stein's commentary floating around in my head.

I had the honor of having lunch with Ben Stein in the summer of 2003 at Fritz's Frypan in downtown Sandpoint. I was just sitting there, eating at the lunch counter when he came in, sat down, and started visiting with me. Pretty cool.

Keep up the good blogging!

Henry
